Every new author dreams of the first time they’ll see a book with their name on it in their hands. They – that is to say, we dream of our first signing event and imagine long lines of awesome fans waiting from a signature from you. Well, my first signing came and went with eight total books signed. While it may not have been “the dream,” it was a dream come true.
I got to meet a bunch of awesome people and see live performances from such awesome people as Kid History, Devin SuperTramp, Peter Hollens, and Studio C. One of the great highlights was a woman who bought my book for her husband and then asked to take a picture with me. That was awesome and left me amazed and humbled. Peter Hollens, one of my favorite musicians, was great to see live despite the challenging technical difficulties which he handled with class. Another great moment was when a man stopped by the booth to chat and it turned out to be none other than Jason Lyle Black. I’ve followed his music for years and HE BOUGHT MY BOOK! Another highlight of the event was a conversation with the creators of Dark Pixel at the end of a very long day on Saturday. If you haven’t checked out their work, you’re missing out.
Overall, CVX Live was an awesome experience, one that I wouldn’t mind repeating in the future. On a side note, if you haven’t had a chance to purchase and or read “Sands,” my debut novel, take a moment, stop by Amazon, and buy it.
